Set up
At the moment Huurre's Fanfiction Reading Log file is only available on Google Sheets due to the used Apps Scripts which don't translate to Excel automatically. It's possible to rewrite them but you can use Scripts in Excel only when you have a paid subscription. Apple Numbers does not have half of the features I have used while doing this, but I am doing something similar to Numbers whenever I have time enough. Please, be patient! I am doing my best, but I have my days overflowing with everything I have to do and want to do and I just don't have time enough for everything.
Download the file
Create a copy of the file to yourself from File > Make a copy > Write a name > Choose a folder > (optional) Check Copy comments & uncheck Share it with the same people > Make a copy

Activate the Apps Scripts
Step 1
You need to use an Apps Script to be able to activate it. The easiest way is to put a link to one fanfiction (which is in Archieve of Our Own and is open) to cell B4 (first row of the fanfics).

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7
Click "Allow".
Some of the scripts might be able to scrape something from your files but these scripts don't have that kind of feature. I will not get access to your file or any of your information. They are purely scraping some information for you and analysing the data in your file.

Did you use the previous version of the Fanfiction Reading Log?
This might be one of the easiest way to move from old file to the new one.
I suggest using the Name box tool because I’m going to tell you the area you are going to copy from the old version. This is the easiest way to get it chosen.

Copy this area from the old file |
Choose this cell from the new file and right-click > Paste special > Values only |
A5:B | A4 |
C5:C | G4 (HOX! I have changed “Done” to “Read” so you should update the word from every read fanfic.) |
E5:H | I4 |
I5:I | E4 |
J5:J | M4 |
K5:K | O4 |
L5:L | F4 |
M5:U | P4 |
V5:W | AA4 |
Y5:Y | Z4 |
Z5:AA | AE4 |
And what about the rest?
FINISHED
The new version is looking at the dates, so you need to move these manually. You can put to everyone you have read on July, for example “2024-07-01”.
LAST READ CHAPTER
For technical reasons there’s a function in the new file which would update automatically to chapter count to max when you have marked something as “read” so the copy & paste would overwrite the functions. You will need to move these manually.
After that
Update the statistics. Some of the statistics need manual update. Most of the buttons you can find from “Fanfic Management” menu, which is my own creation. In General Statistics page in Fandom Statistics there’s also a button “Update”, which will update most popular in this fandom section. After you’ve done all that, it is ready!
HOX! Only one script can be running at a time. Be patient with them! :)
Small trics & tips
AO3 AUTOMATION
For the open fanfictions from Archive of Our Own you can use also the automatic pick up which would also give you full list of relationships, characters and tags in case you have made them shorter in the old version. Because the new version has also some other additional information, such as publish date and what part of the series fanfic is, you can also use it on top of copy + paste. It will overwrite the information it can find from the link, other stuff it should leave alone.
CHAPTER COUNT
In the new version chapters will be marked the same way as in the Archive of Our Own, like 1/1, 12/30, 10/? et cetera. AO3 automation will pick them up too, if you decide to use it, but it might be good idea to update them at some point.
